Rayed Redemption Inmate Children’s Fund

Euless, Texas, May 30, 2015 - Rayed Redemption Prison Ministry of Texas and California introduces its Inmates Children’s Fund program to help vulnerable younger children from struggling homes get a better chance in life.

Rayed Redemption Inmate Children’s Fund

Rayed Redemption Ministry Senior Pastor David Barberis announced details of an expansion of the ministry, to help vulnerable children with incarcerated parent/s from struggling homes to get a better chance in life through their education.

“According to an August 19, 2013 article published by Alternet.org there were 2,266,800 inmates in Federal and State Prisons, and County Jails at the end of the year 2011per the U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics,” “at the end of 2010 there were 2.7 million children in the U.S. who have a parent in prison or jail, 1 out of every 28 children under 18 in the U.S. has a parent incarcerated per Sociologists Bruce Western and Becky Petit in that same article.” Said Barberis

The program will focus on these children by providing them with school supplies and backpacks for the start of the 2015-2016 school year and as finances and supplies permit expand into providing clothing and shoes.

Bishop-Dr. Leerma Patterson-Lemons states that “children of the incarcerated have been neglected with a large percentage even ending in Foster Homes, further advancing the breakup of these children’s families.” She added “The final goal is to create a scholarship that will allow us to give school supplies, teach, mentor and follow these student through their educational journey.”

“At Rayed Redemption we understand that truancy, crime and anti-social behavior, could be the norm for some of these children, by providing for their needs research shows that when properly equipped these children will develop a positive attitude and self-worth, miss fewer school days, demonstrate improved classroom behavior, and achieve higher test scores.” Rayed Redemption Prison Ministry’s co-founder Carmen Ramos said.

Further Pastor Ervin Hill in California says that “while we reach out and help the inmates themselves and their families, it is imperative that we also focus on the children as they adjust to such traumatic experience, and we cannot stop at the prison gate, we must be involved and supportive at their most vulnerable times.”

“There are thousands of individuals and families living troubled lives blighted by crime, and truancy because of the household economy that they face, our current national economic situation and the unfortunate circumstances that face these children have them facing an uphill battle, our mission is to ensure that these children get to enjoy a learning experience on a level playing ground by equipping them with the supplies they need to learn. And a brand new attitude in life.” Said Barberis

Thanks to community support, Rayed Redemption Prison Ministry Children's Fund will provide outstanding program services to inmate’s children that are in need of school supplies and clothing, after school tutoring, and cultural/educational events throughout the year.

In order for us to provide services to these at risk children, we are asking for support of In-Kind Donations and Monetary Donations.

MORE THAN OVERCOMERS

Romans 8:28 (NLT)

“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”

Yes, God does work in “everything” for our good not some isolated incidents. As believer we are not left to our own resources to cope with problems, even when praying for when we do not even know the words to say when we pray the Holy Spirit prays with and for us.

Now this does not mean that only good things happen to us. Evil is prevalent in our fallen world however God is able to turn everything single circumstance around for our long-range good. God is not working to make us happy but to fulfill his purpose.

Also God's promise is not for everybody, it can only be claimed by those who love Him and are called by Him, meaning, those that have been convinced by the Holy Spirit to receive Jesus Christ. Those of us that receive Christ have a new perspective, and a new mind-set. We trust in God not some worldly treasures, our security is in heaven, not on earth. Our faith in God can never waver in pain and persecution because we know that God is with us, thus we become more like Christ at which point we become more than just overcomers.

WE ARE CHILDREN OF GOD NOT PRACTICING SINNERS

1 John 3:8-9 (NLT)

“But when people keep on sinning, it shows that they belong to the devil, who has been sinning since the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil. Those who have been born into God’s family do not make a practice of sinning, because God’s life is in them. So they can’t keep on sinning, because they are children of God.

“They cant keep on sinning, because they are children of God.” Very powerful statement made by John meaning that as true believers we do not make a practice of sinning, nor do we become indifferent to God’s moral laws. We all still sin, but we are working to gain victory over sin.

We all have areas where temptation is still strong and old habits are hard to conquer giving the enemy a chance to gain a foothold so we have to deal with these areas of vulnerability. John is not talking about our incomplete victory, no he is talking about those who make a practice of sinning and then go looking for ways to justify it.

These are three necessary steps to gain victory over sin;

1. Seek the power of the Holy Spirit and God’s Word

2. Stay away from tempting situations

3. Seek the help of the body of Christ

We have got to be willing to have our brothers and sisters hold us accountable and to pray for us.

When we are born again the Holy Spirit comes and lives in us giving us Jesus’ new life. Being born again is more than getting a fresh start, it means getting a new life, a rebirth into a new family, the family of Christ which could only have happened because of His death for us. At that point God has forgiven us and totally accepts us into His family, and the Holy Spirit gives us a new mind and heart. He begins to help us become like Christ. Our perspective changes because we have a mind that is daily renewed by the Holy Spirit per Romans 12:2 and Ephesians 4:22-24.

So we have to think and act differently. “Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think...” (Romans 12:2 NLT), “...You must display a new nature because you are a new person, created in God’s likeness-righteous, holy, and true.” (Ephesians 4:24b).

ARE YOU LOOKING DOWN ON OTHERS?

Matthew 18:15 (NLT) “If another believer sins against you, go privately and point out the fault. If the other person listens and confesses it, you have won that person back.”

Who did Jesus forgive?
  • The paralyzed man lowered on a mat through the roof (Matthew 9:2-8)
  • The woman caught in adultery John 8:3-11)
  • The woman who anointed his feet with perfume (Luke 7:44-50)
  • Peter, for denying he knew Jesus (John 18:15-18, 25-27; 21:15-19)
  • The criminal on the cross (Luke 23:39-43)
  • The people who crucified Him (Luke 23:34)
Jesus did not just teach us about forgiveness, he demonstrated it as we can see above.

Matthew 8:15 is Jesus’s guidance for us Christians no for unbelievers, for sins committed against you an not others, and for conflict resolution amongst us Christians. These words are not a license to attack every person who hurts, or slights us, or we simply suspect them without confirmation. They are not a license for you to start a destructive gossip campaign against your brother or sister. These words are designed to reconcile those that disagree so that all us Christians can live in harmony.

Many of us when we feel we have been wronged do the exact opposite of what Jesus is teaching us. We turn away in hatred or resentment, we seek revenge, or engage in destructive gossip. Jesus teaches us that we should go to that person regardless of how difficult we may think it could be. Then as He tells us in Matthew 18:21-22 when Peter thought he was being so generous asked Him if he should forgive 7 times (seven being the “perfect” number), no “Seventy times seven.” meaning that we should not even keep track of how many times we forgive someone. We should always forgive those who are truly repentant regardless of how many times they ask.

What better way of restoring a relationship than following the teachings of our Lord and Savior who died in order that we could be forgiven, are we better than HIM?

THE COST OF BEING A DISCIPLE

Luke 14:27 (NLT) “…you cannot be my disciple if you do not carry your own cross and follow me.”

At the time Jesus was teaching us through parables it was known that when criminals were led by the Romans to their execution site, they had to carry the cross on which they would die. This showed submission to Rome and warned others that they had better submit or they would also face the same consequences of their not submitting. Jesus spoke to the crowd so that they could weigh out the cost of their enthusiasm for him. Those that were superficial were to go deeper or to turn back since following Christ means being totally submitted to him, remember some have even paid with their lives.

On the very next verse Jesus tells us, “But don’t begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first getting estimates and then checking to see if there is enough money to pay the bills?” (Luke 17:28 NT). Does not a builder always estimate the costs associated with a job before starting to ensure completion, then think about the costs you will incur when you decide to follow Christ so you do not abandon your Christian life. And what are those costs? You may face the loss of social status, or wealth, you may have to give up control of your money, your time, or your career. You may be hated, separated from your family, and even put to death. Following Christ does not mean a trouble-free life. Carefully count your cost to becoming a disciple of Christ so that you will firmly hold on to your faith and be tempted later and then turn back later.

Later He tells us that salt can lose flavor, many Christians blend into the world and avoid the cost of standing up for Christ and Jesus tells us that if we lose our distinctive saltiness, we become worthless. Just like salt flavors and preserves food, we are to preserve the good in the world and bring new flavor to life. In order for us to fulfill our discipleship we should be willing to sacrifice, and commit to His Kingdom. If a Christian fails to be salty he or she fails to represent Christ in the world. Are you willing to pay the price to be a disciple?

DO YOU WANT TO KNOW GOD PERSONALLY?

If you want to know God personally, ask yourself 3 very simple questions, then you need look no further than the Bible for the answers and on how to personally get to know Him.

Here are the 3 questions with the proper Biblical answers that follow, and then finally the response and solution;

1. Is God in my life, is He missing from my life?

2. Why is He missing, what is the problem?

3. Is there a solution, what is that solution?

4. The response, the absolute solution
____________________________________________________

1.   Is God in my life, is He missing from my life?

"So I decided there is nothing better than to enjoy food and drink and to find satisfaction in work. Then I realized that this pleasure is from the hand of God. For who can eat or enjoy anything apart from him?" Ecclesiastes 2:24-25 NLT

Solomon tells us to take pleasure in what we are doing now and to enjoy life because it comes from God. We search for so many things in our lives, but even when we find those things that we pursue we still feel emptiness in our hearts, it is a spiritual void that only a relationship with God can fulfill. Possessions, success, relationships and even religion do not fill that void. We need to have a purposeful relationship with God in order to fill the void but before we can establish that relationship we need to overcome a very serious problem.

2.   Why is He missing, what is the problem?

"The human heart is most deceitful and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is?" Jeremiah 17:9 NLT

Through the Bible God makes it very clear that the reason He is missing from our lives is because of a problem we come into the world with and this problem is sin. We are born as sinners, even King David acknowledged this in Psalm 51:5 when he said "I was born a sinner—yes, from the moment my mother conceived me" and because we are born sinners, sinning comes to us naturally. And every problem we experience in society today can be traced back to our refusal to live God’s way. We can choose whether we want to continue in sin, we have a choice to continue yielding to temptations or we can ask God for help resisting temptations when they come.

3.   Is there a solution, what is that solution?"

“We are made right in God’s sight when we trust in Jesus Christ to take away our sins. And we all can be saved in this same way, no matter who we are or what we have done." Romans 3:22 NLT

There is a solution, yes and God provided us with a solution to our problem, a problem that He knew we could not beat alone regardless of our background or our past behaviors. He sent us his own Son, Jesus Christ, to bridge the gap created by sin that separates us from God, John 3:16 tells us “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” Jesus experienced all of our troubles yet remained sinless; He was falsely arrested and killed on a Roman cross, not by accident but to fulfill the scriptures because He was to suffer the punishment that we all deserved so that we can have salvation. Then He rose from the dead 3 days later conquering sin and death on our behalf forever.

4.   The response, the absolute solution

"Now turn from your sins and turn to God, so you can be cleansed of your sins." Acts 3:19 NLT

In order to know God personally you must know Jesus Christ personally. The void in our hearts can only be fulfilled when we knowing that we are sinners when we come to God through Jesus Christ His Son who died for our sins. We need to confess and turn away from our sins as we welcome Jesus into our lives as our Lord and Savior, once we do this He will move in and through the Holy Spirit change us from the inside out.

If you are now ready to repent of your sins and believe that Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior, and to receive his forgiveness, close your eyes and pray:

Dear God, I cannot help that I was born a sinner Lord; I am choosing to come to you and ask for your forgiveness turning away from sin Father. I thank you God for sending Jesus to die on the cross for my sins and I humbly ask you Jesus to come into my life to be my Lord and Savior. I thank you Father for your forgiveness and for giving me eternal life. In the most Holy Name of Jesus I pray. Amen

You are now an heir to the throne

Upon your accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Savior you have received God’s forgiveness for your sins, He has received you into His family, and your relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ will bring about some dramatic changes in your life.

The Bible tells us that "...those who become Christians become new persons. They are not the same anymore, for the old life is gone. A new life is begun!" (2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT)

RAYED REDEMPTION MINISTRY IN CALIFORNIA NOW!

Euless, Texas, May 22, 2015There are inmates and their families who don't know the message of Jesus Christ across the United States; this is one consistently-overlooked group of people.
Rayed Redemption Ministry (Rayed) has been reaching out to this group of men and women on society's fringes through a proven effective model, in which we reach out to inmates and their families planting the seed of the Holy Gospel and supporting them through incarceration and then maintaining contact upon release from incarceration.

Rayed currently works in the state of Texas with offices in Euless, which in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex for the northern part of the state and in Houston for the southern part of the state. On May 20 RRM has joined in a working relationship with Pastor Ervin Hill and Bishop-Dr. Leerma Patterson-Lemons in Stockton California opening up the ministry in Northern California.

Rayed Redemption Ministry a Texas nonprofit corporation will be registered on June 1, 2015 as a California foreign nonprofit corporation with Pastors Hill and Patterson as representatives. “The partnership with local pastors will help implement the program thanks to their having established a strong foundation through their prior work with the community,” said David Barberis Founder of Rayed Redemption Ministry

Pastor Hill said “It is a blessing to be involved with Rayed Redemption Ministry, making a difference and planting the seed of God, as Jesus said in Matthew 25:36 ““I was naked, and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you cared for me, I was in prison and you visited me.””

Rayed Redemption’s Co-Pastor Carmen Ramos states that "By bringing the message of our
Lord Jesus Christ and helping inmates change their hearts, we can help in bringing a dramatic turn from the drug culture and violence that now dominates our society. Rayed is poised to help bring about that change."

Rayed provides people in prisons and jails, and their families with a faith-based reentry education and mentoring program that could be extremely valuable in California in particular.

Bishop-Dr. Patterson commented “It is with great honor that I join forces with such an outstanding prison Ministry as Rayed Redemption Ministry.

Rayed Redemption Ministry was initiated by contacts established through like-minded individuals first through the sport of Racquetball and then through evangelical associates. We visit inmates each week to present a message and distribute lessons, Bibles and other literature by mail. Backed by support from prison officials, the program will continue expand.

Pastor Barberis stated in a recent article, "Incarcerated people and their families across the United Sates have been ignored and under-served once they are released leaving them vulnerable to peer pressures as well the pressures of the “Free World.” Rayed's unique counseling and mentoring program responds to God's call to remember them, and we plan to continue expanding first on a national basis and should it be the Lord’s will globally."

Rayed’s expansion promises to continue, giving hope to prisoners and their families as we unite diverse cultures and regions with the Gospel message. Learn more about ways you can get involved and even become a volunteer with Rayed Redemption Ministry here.

PRAYER CIRCLE PRAYER

PRAYER CIRCLE PRAYER

Heavenly Father I come to you in the name of our brothers and sisters who are in prison behind iron bars or a concrete cell, our brothers and sisters Father are also inside prison of inner bondage to those things that have brought them to their current situation. We rebuke the forces of evil that seek to continue to hold and try to destroy our brothers and sisters. Father per 1st John 4:4 we claim, “The one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.”

We rebuke, cast away and bind Satan and all of his evil plans with the Triune Cord that is the Holy Trinity Father, and we declare Satan as the thief, robber, liar and murderer who is the father of all sin. We bind Satan, as we cast him and his demons out, and we now loosen the power of the Holy Spirit upon our dear brothers and sisters.

Father we pray for your protecting grace for our brothers and sisters in prison from harassment, threats of violence and from the evil influence of fellow inmates. We pray for your protection around their bodies, minds, souls and spirits per Psalm 91 Lord.

And we declare them children of God reborn and coming to You dear God through the shed power and blood of our strong Savior, Jesus Christ. We speak freedom, health, healing, wholeness, forgiveness, repentance, reconciliation, restoration, peace, truth and hope into their lives. We pray that instead of ashes their lives transform to a multitude of praise. In the Most Holy Name of Jesus Father we pray for a blinding conversion experience such as the one experienced by Paul on the road to Damascus.

Thank you for the lives of our brothers and sisters and for the Love that you have shown us, in Jesus Name let the Holy Spirit now dwell in their hearts, Amen.

RELEASE THE LOAD

"let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us” (Hebrews 12:1 NLT)

In supermarkets and airports there are carts or trucks to load the weight carrying food for the home, or the heavy bags that we carry for a trip.

The goal is to simply make our load light. However, there are loads that we must “throw away” or get rid of and these are the loads that may be in the mind or consciousness.

This is the heavy burden which consists of all that prevents us from properly develop our Christian life. This load is presented in different ways, which very often can lead us to the following:

  • Low self-esteem.
  • Defeatist attitude.
  • Feeling of rejection.
  • Perfectionism.
  • Fear of failure.
  • Neglect.
  • Lack of self-control.
  • Lack of concentration.
  • Negative attitude.
  • Mistrust.
  • Indecision.

That heaviest load must deal is "the weight of us besetting sin". A weakness is not sin in general, but is of "sin", in particular with specific characteristics, constantly personally harassing us. Examples are: lies, coveting what we don't have, get false testimony or propensity to talk badly of your neighbor, as well among other sins or weaknesses that we miss, because we say or tell ourselves: "that happens to everyone".

What should we do?

  1. Admit we have onerous burdens in our lives and ask the Lord to help us to rid ourselves of them.
  2. Try to get rid of sins that constantly cause us to stumble.
  3. Honestly accept our personal responsibility for all that burden.
  4. Decide to confront it, knowingly submitting to the Biblical precept that encourages us saying: "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us." (Hebrews 12.1 NLT).
Not trust in ourselves, but in Him who said that He would be with us until the end of the world (Matthew 28:20) and that we learn from it, who defeated the evil (John 16:33): Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 12.2 NLT: " We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith"

Hebrews 12:1 NLT “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us”

A LIGHT THAT DARKNESS CAN NEVER EXTINGUISH

John 1:4-5 (NLT) “Life itself was in Him, and this life gives light to everyone. The light shines through the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.”

“The darkness can never extinguish it,” the darkness of evil has never been able to overcome the light that God provided for us Jesus Christ the creator of life which brings light to us. In this light we saw ourselves as sinners who needed a Savior. As we follow Jesus the true Light we can avoid walking blindly thus stumbling into sin.

Light represents all that is good, pure, true, holy and reliable while darkness represents what is sinful and evil. God is perfect, holy and true and He alone can guide us out of darkness. We cannot continue on sinning and claim that we are in the Light because darkness will never be able to exist where there is Light, sin cannot exist in the presence of our Most Holy God. We cannot have fellowship with our Heavenly Father and still walk in darkness.

Jesus lights our path so that we can see how to live. Jesus removed the darkness of sin from our lives, and when we confess He removes it daily.

Allow for the Light of Christ to shine into your life, Let Him guide your life, every step of the way, pray on it incessantly and you will never again stumble into the darkness.

HOW ARE YOU INCARCERATED?

Philippians 1:12b (NLT) “…what has happened to me has actually served to advance the gospel.”

“Heavy, Groovy, Insane,” Wow, what other metaphors could we use to describe the statement made by Paul while being imprisoned in Philippi; can you imagine any of us making that statement while being incarcerated and in chains no less? And I concur!

How many people facing incarceration, or being imprisoned become bitter, and resentful, giving up on life all together, but for Paul this was another opportunity to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Paul was not deterred by the circumstances of his imprisonment, no he turned a bad situation into a good one reaching out to the Roman soldiers who guarded him and he encouraged the Christians who were afraid of persecution.

Just like being in prison we have many opportunities to be discouraged, times of indecision, financial difficulties, family and church conflict, loss of work, and a plethora of earthly issues. The way we react and act to those situations just like being incarcerated reflects what we believe. Why not be like Paul and look for ways where we could demonstrate our faith even in bad situations. Even if our situation does not improve, you will notice that your faith will grow.

For you who are imprisoned remember that when we speak fearlessly for Christ or live faithfully for Him during difficult situations, we are encouraging others to do the same. Choose to be an encouragement by the way that we live. Especially when we reach to those behind the walls because despite the opposition you will find that some will listen and believe. Remember “the Word of God cannot be chained” (2 Timothy 2:9b NLT)

PSYCHOLOGY SURRENDERS

Today as a clinical psychologist with 25 years of vast experience in the fields of prevention and treatment of mental illness, working with couples and undermined marriages, counseling men who have planted churches consisting of between 500 to 5000 members, and leading 100 to 600 young people in public religious and social events.

Today, that knowledge, and experience surrenders before an act of unconditional love.

I have always maintained a stance against the mechanism of generalization, for instance something like: "all women are the same," as a simple example:

A shy boy who is (shameful) when communication with the girls... we can say that his response ("shame", which are actually multiple answers, both cognitive and physiological) is a conditioned response. Imagine that once this guy tried to invite to a girl, but she refused it. This situation (rejection) would be the E.I. for "shame" (R.I.), and then conditioned as R.C. before the girl (E.C.), who was previously a neutral stimulus. Then, the boy is prone to feeling shame when approaching any woman his age (generalization), but not so with men, or older women (like his mother, teachers...), or little girls. The latter being discriminatory.

The example is pretty simple, but it serves to illustrate the concepts.

All this and more has been applied in my "vast experience" as a therapist and resulting in the satisfaction of solved cases, just as other as others are not solved.

Only when it pertains to you and after days and nights of overcoming duels, and the heart divorced from reason and knowledge. You understand that all that human knowledge is unspeakably passed by with an act of love.

Real love does not coincide with theory or scientific knowledge, giving your life for another, without conditions or asking for anything in return, would be called madness by Science.

This "madness", is the unconditional love JESUS demonstrated to us, that unconditional love, He demonstrates to all of us, still overcoming humanity’s rejection. Because God’s everlasting plans did not include for us to be rejected or posses the inability to love. Unfortunately, in our dark or sinful nature is inflicting pain or always defending ourselves from having pain inflicted to us.

Today this "madness" pierced my heart, reminding me that unconditional love is real: it is not MYTHICAL, it is given by the Father to others to love us as He loves us.

You say, the Bible says: "cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans…" Jeremiah 17:5. And today I answer: “Love…does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things Love never fails…” 1st Cor. 13.

This love is given from God to men. Therefore it is credible that there is "someone" flesh and bone that breaks away from the subliminal defense mechanisms of generalization, and even with all human and scientific law.

Today, this psychologist surrenders and testifies that I have experienced this love because I have witnessed it in his spirit, his soul and in his body. An act of true love overcomes any therapy and experience. This ACT OF LOVE silences the storms, humiliates and tears at pride, breaks the stones into the sea, and it heals seemingly incurable wounds, an act that find in clinics, workshops and group therapies (which help and are excellent tools). Love overcomes the faith, and together they will go only if they go hand in hand.

Today I would like to express that I claim my devotion and love for the Lord, and I have been treated by Him and one of his sons, that being the one who directs this Ministry. Publicly I express that in all these "years of experience, had not seen the ability, sincerity and transparency of humane treatment and restoration with which Pastor David Barberis has been gifted by God.”

I thank God for the opportunity to meet a person with such a gift. Thank God for the treatment of love and redemption that He has made in the life of this man of God, and that I have received: I repeat, it is an honor.

So in summary: psychology and any other science that seeks to conduct proactive or operating changes, will never exceed ACTS OF LOVE, where God blesses and provides some key people to work in his Kingdom, with that unconditional love.

Thank you Pastor David Barberis for being you...

Moral: Love is not mythical, is based on acts and facts that underpin the heart causing actions and reactions that are surprising to reasoning.

Carmen Ramos

LOVE IS THANKFUL

“He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan” LUKE 17:16

Only one of the ten lepers who were cleansed of leprosy by our Lord Jesus Christ returned to thank him. Can you imagine it?, the very son of God, only one out of ten (10 people having a disease more contagious, incurable, and cursed, recognized Jesus as God and thanked him for his grace and love to save him. How many times have you not been thanked or shown appreciation for a noble and selfless action? How does that make you feel? It surely must make you feel bad, helpless, and angry, among other negative emotions that might have an impact on your physical well being as psychosomatic symptoms.

However it did happen to Jesus Christ and it still happens, how many people have turned to the Church for help or have received physical healing from the Lord and have turned away from the same? We do not have enough fingers in our hands to count how many. A Chinese proverb says: "When you drink water, remember the source.” We should always remember those who give us hand during the most difficult moments of our lives, it often happens that when we are no longer facing difficulty and are relieved we forget the "Samaritan" who supported us in that difficult moment, which could have been just being assisted in the street when our car ran out of gas.

Friends and brothers in Christ if Jesus, the very son of God was not thanked by those nine for the miracle of their healing of something as dangerous as leprosy, yet He continued on with His mission to save humanity by giving His life. What then is our response to indolence? What is then our response to the ingratitude of some people who do not stop to be grateful with God or with any act of kindness or gratitude that can come from part of us?

The answer is to think of ten people, there will always be one who returns to thank you for any act of Godly love that you have done with no interest in mind. For that one1, for you and for me Jesus died and was raised from the dead. He is our example and inspiration to continue doing what was commanded: to” love of neighbor.” Be like that "Samaritan", that even he was not of the same race or social lineage of Jesus Christ, he was moved and turned to give glory and thanks to that Jew who had saved his life and gave him the salvation of his soul.

Ingratitude is a product of pride and arrogance, a sign of instability in personality that affects social behavior. Some do not have the ability to give, because they don't know how to receive. They believe that they know everything and deserve all the attention and support of others, or because they exist in their surreal and egocentric world.

The Christian must give, not receive anything to change. "But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing” (Matthew 6:3). The individual who is firm in his principles and convictions does not boast about what he does for others or their philanthropic actions.   He goes about his business fluidly and these action do not determine his personality, he does not go about bragging about his acts of kindness towards others or donations he has made to different foundations or organizations. He gives all the glory and honor to Him who called him to preach the Gospel and model his lifestyle after.

Ask yourself if you were one of those ten who had leprosy, would you have returned to thank Jesus Christ for the miracle that of your healing from this terrible disease. In addition think of how many people have helped you and you have forgotten thank them for their help and support during the difficult times in your life, rather than thinking about those who you've helped who have not thanked you.

Remember this: “God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.” (Hebrews 6:10)

Who should better than the all mighty God to remember our works, so don't worry if we are thanked and appreciated or not... The heavenly father will do so, always, when we do it heartfelt and selflessly.

Love is thankful; love gives without expecting to receive in return. The rewards are at the door, every day the Lord blesses us and rewards us with that same Love that died on the cross and healed those ten lepers.

I thank God for that love which has rewarded me with other brothers and friends, the family of faith and those Samaritans who are always on the road.

HOW ARE YOU REPRESENTING GOD?

Romans 2:24 (NLT)

“The Gentiles blaspheme the name of God because of you.”

Since we claim to be one of God’s own, should not our lives reflect what He is like? When we disobey God we dishonor His name. New believers, and non-believers look to us for an example yet we put down, criticize our brothers and sisters and sometimes we even seek revenge in order to build ourselves up. This behavior sometimes lead the new or non-believer to blaspheme or profane God’s name because of our own doing. The enemy has his eyes on us all the time.

Paul’s explanation to the Romans in today’s verse was because of the hypocritical behavior of the Jews that led to some disturbing results just like it happens today. Look all the way back to Isaiah 52:5 and Ezekiel 36:20-21 “Then I was concerned for my holy name, which had been dishonored by my people throughout the world.” And this all because of Israel’s disobedience of God’s Law. Everyone knows that Abraham’s (Israel) are chosen people that are us today! The world looks to us to act accordingly and just like when the Jews violated the Law and the Gentiles blasphemed God’s name the same happens today when the enemy is in high alert to all of our actions.

Our Father is concerned about not only our salvation but that of the entire world. When we push away other because of our actions, we are pushing them towards other gods and we know that God will not share His glory with false gods, He alone is the one true God. We share a responsibility to represent Him to the rest of the world. We share that same responsibility as the Israelites, the Apostles and those before us had to represent God. How do you represent God to the World today?

ARE YOU LOST? JESUS CAME FOR YOU!

Luke 19:10 (NLT)

“For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.”

Jesus always maintained the purpose for His coming to earth, in the main (or theme) verse of the Gospel Luke verse 10 of chapter 19 always calling Himself the Son of Man Jesus stated: “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” Jesus was responding to the grumbling crowd because He was telling Zaccheus that He was going to be a guest in his house. Imagine the low of the lowest for the Jews at that time, not just a tax collector but the chief tax collector. Jesus is telling them Yes, I am going exactly to his house, the house of the great sinner because that is the reason why I came to this earth as the Son of Man, to seek and to save those who are lost in sin.”

Note that every time tax collectors are mentioned favorable in Luke even though they were so hated (3:12, 5:27, 7:29, 15:1, 18:10, 19:2), Jesus even picked a tax collector Levi or Matthew as we know him as one of His twelve apostles showing His heart for sinners and how by grace His transforming powers would take effect.

In contrast to Zaccheus’ story we had the young ruler who walked away from salvation because he would rather cling to his riches when Jesus told him “How hard it is for those who are wealthy to enter the kingdom of God!” Yes, it is impossible, just as the camel cannot go through the eye of the neddle. But brothers and sister do not despair because as He said “the things that are impossible with men are possible with God (Luke 18:24,27).

Remember that a person is not saved by because of their richness, actions, and heritage, no they are saved by the grace because Jesus came to save all the lost regardless of their background or previous way of life. Through faith, the lost will be forgiven and made new.

Amen

THE SPIRIT OF GOD

Exodus 31:3 (NLT)

“I have filled him with the Spirit of God, giving him great wisdom, ability, and expertise in all kinds of crafts.”

The Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit that was there hovering over the surface of the earth (Genesis 1:2) that God filled Bezalel with on Exodus 31:3 is the same Spirit that He filled the likes of Abraham, David, Joseph, Noah, Isaiah, all the way through the Old Testament until that day when John let us know that Jesus is the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit (John 1:33).

Jesus told the apostles not to leave Jerusalem in Acts 1:4-5 until God sent them His promise, the baptism with the Holy Spirit, that same Holy Spirit that was made available to all of us who receive Jesus Christ as our Savior on Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4).

The Spirit of God was sent so that God could be with and within us when Jesus returned to heaven, the Spirit is with us to comfort us, to guide us in our knowing of the truth, to remind us of Jesus, to give us the right words to say and to fill us with power just like He did Bezalel.

The Spirit marks the beginning of the Christian experience, we cannot be Christians without his Spirit (Romans 8:9), we cannot be joined to Christ without his Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:17), we can never be adopted as his children without his Spirit (Romans 8:14-17 and Galatians 4:6 and 7), and we cannot be in the body of Christ except by baptism in the Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:13).

The Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit is His guarantee that we belong to him and the He will do what He promised as He told Moses He did to Bezalel.

FAITH OR GRACE?

Ephesians 2:8 (NLT)

Faith or Grace?

God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.”

Because our salvation and even our faith are gifts, we should respond with gratitude, praise, and joy. We are not saved merely for our own benefit but to serve Christ and build up the church.

The word Faith has so many meanings, it can mean faithfulness (Matthew 24:45). It can mean absolute trust, as shown by some of the people who came to Jesus for healing (Luke 7:2-10). It can mean confident hope (Hebrews 11:1). Or as James point out, it can even mean a barren belief that does not result in good deeds (James 2:14-26). What does Paul mean when he speaks of “saving faith”?

We must be very careful to understand faith as Paul uses the word because he ties faith so closely we salvation. It is not something we must do in order to earn salvation, if that were true, then faith would be just one more deed, and Paul clearly states that human deeds can never save us (Galatians 2:16). Instead, faith is a gift that God gives us because He is saving us (see today’s verse). It is God’s grace, not our faith that saves us, He gives us faith, a relationship with his Son that helps us become like him. Through the faith he gives us, he carries us from death into life (John 5:24).

When Jesus conquered death, He cancelled the charges against us and opened the way to the Father (Colossians 2:12-15). Because He is merciful, He offers us faith. How tragic if we turn faith into a deed and try to develop it on our own. We can never come to God through our own faith any more than the Old Testament people could come through their own sacrifices. Instead, we must accept his gracious offer with thanksgiving and allow him to plant the seed of faith within us.

EAGERNESS AND WORRY

Eagerness and Worry

“So I tell you, don’t worry about everyday life…”
Matthew 6:25a (NLT)

As we read Matthew 6:25 to 34 Jesus teaches us about worrying, because of the ill effects of worrying Jesus tells us not to worry about those needs that God promises to supply. Worry leads to damaging our health disrupt our productivity, negatively affect the way we treat others and reduces our ability to trust in God. How many ill effects are you experiencing? There is a difference between worry and concern, worry immobilizes, and concern moves you to action.

If we make the Kingdom of God our primary concern we put God in first place in our lives and fill our thoughts with his desires taking his character for our pattern to serve and obey him in everything.

So what is really important to us? People, objects, goals and other desires all compete for priority and any of these can bump God out of first place if we do not give him first place in every area of our lives.

Sometimes we cannot tell the difference between planning and worrying, time spent planning is time well spent, worrying is wasted time. Careful planning is thinking ahead and trusting in God’s guidance. When done properly planning can alleviate worrying. By contrast worriers are consumed by fear and find it difficult to trust God by letting the plans interfere with the relationship with God.

Don’t let your worries about the future affect your relationship with God today.

In verses 6:25-34 Jesus provides seven reasons why we should not worry;

1. 6:25 The same God who created our lives can be trusted with the details of our lives

2. 6:26 Worrying about the future hampers our efforts today

3. 6:27 Worrying is more harmful than helpful

4. 6:28-30 God does not ignore those who depend on him

5. 6:31-32 Worrying shows a lack of faith in and understanding of God

6. Worrying keeps us from the real challenges God has placed upon us

7. Living one day at a time keeps us from being consumed with worry.

Faithfully roll your worries over to God for He is faithful, always was and always will.

MY REDEEMER LIVES

“But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and he will stand upon the earth at last.” Job 19:25 (NLT)

What a ringing affirmation from Job, “I know that my Redeemer lives.” In Job’s days a redeemer was a family member who bought a slave’s way to freedom, or who took care of a widow as was the case with Ruth. What faith Job had even in light of his being unaware of the conference that had taken place between God and Satan, and his believing that all his disasters had been brought on by God. As he faced death and decay he still expected to see God, and he expected to do so in his body. At that time there was no developed doctrine of the resurrection and even though Job struggled with the idea that God was presently against him, he firmly believed that in the end God would be on his side.

Job was one of the first to talk about the resurrection of the body along with David (Psalm 16:10), Isaiah (26:19) and Daniel (12:2, 13). They were confident and they knew that God’s justice would triumph, even with if it took a miracle like the resurrection, our Hope as Christians.

ARE YOU BORN AGAIN

John 3:3 (NLT)

Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.”

Nicodemus knew that God had sent Jesus to teach them, he even mentioned that the miraculous signs would be proof enough that God was with Him in John 3:2, verse 3 the first words that Jesus spoke to Nicodemus who was a devout Pharisee as He leading to let him know that the Kingdom would come to the entire world not just the Jews (see John 3:16). Jesus was telling Nicodemus that he would not be part of the Kingdom unless he was personally born again which was such a revolutionary concept for the time.

The Kingdom of God is personal, not national, or ethnic, and its entrance requirements are repentance and spiritual rebirth. Jesus later taught that God’s Kingdom has already begun in the hearts of believers (see Luke 17:21). The Kingdom will be fully realized when Jesus returns again to judge the world and abolish evil forever per Revelation 21-22.

OUR REDEMPTION

Hebrews 9:12 (NLT)

“With his own blood—not the blood of goats and calves—he entered the Most Holy Place once for all time and secured our redemption forever.”

“ The blood of goats and calves” refers to the Day of Atonement rituals mentioned in Leviticus 16. However our redemption is not the result of rituals or sacrifices, no our redemption is only attained through Christ’s death, Jesus freed us from the slavery of sin forever.

You may believe that you have to work hard to make yourself good enough for God. But rules and rituals have never cleansed people’s hearts. By the blood of Jesus alone we have our conscience cleansed, we are freed from death’s sting and can live to serve God, and we are freed from sins power.

If you are carrying a load of guilt because you are finding that you can’t be good enough for God, take another look at Jesus’ death and what it means for you. Christ can heal your conscience and deliver you from the frustration of trying to earn God’s favor.

Hebrew 7:27 tells us “…Jesus did this once for all when he offered himself as the sacrifice for the people’s sins.” Yes, Jesus brought the sacrifice system to an end. He forgave all of our sins - past, present and future. Because of His perfect sacrifice we have redemption, we do not have to look for another way to have our sins forgiven, and Christ was the final sacrifice for us all.
