THE LORD IS WITH YOU
”This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 New Living Translation (NLT)
The Lord commanded Joshua to be strong and courageous just as Moses commanded the people of Israel (Deuteronomy 31:6) for the Lord would be with him wherever he went.
Just like Joshua and the Israelites we face overwhelming opposition. Be it at school, at work, at home, or even at church we can feel outnumbers and helpless. As God encouraged the Israelites by reminding them that He was always with them and that He had already saved them from potential danger. We are also reminded that we are secure when we consider that God is able to overcome even the most difficult odds.
Jesus tells us in John 16:33 as He summed up all He had told the disciples as He warned of their being scattered to take courage in spite of all the inevitable persecution that we would face, we would not be alone. Just like He did not abandon them, He does not abandon us to our struggles. Let us remember that the ultimate victory has already been won and that we could claim the peace of Christ through our most troublesome times.
